National Public School – Hosur Road (NPS-HRD) recognizes that effective collaboration between parents and the school is essential for students' holistic development and well-being. This policy establishes clear, structured, and professional channels of communication.

Objectives

• Promote transparent and constructive communication.
• Ensure timely sharing of information.
• Maintain professionalism and respect in all interactions.
• Strengthen parent–school partnership.

Communication Channels

All communication must be conducted through official school channels, including:

• School diary/almanac
• Official email communication
• Student Information Portal/App
• Scheduled meetings and Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs)

Note: Informal communication channels are not recognized.

Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs)

• PTMs are scheduled once a term to discuss student progress.
• Parents are expected to attend PTMs regularly.
• Parents may call the school office to schedule an appointment with the teachers if they wish to meet anytime other than scheduled PTMs.
• Discussions must remain focused on academic progress and student well-being.
• Students must attend PTMs in a complete school uniform with an ID card.

Appointment Protocol

• Parents must seek prior appointments to meet teachers or school authorities.
• Meetings will be scheduled during designated hours only.
• Walk-in meetings during instructional hours are not permitted.
• In case of emergencies, parents may contact the school through the official school contact number. Messages will be conveyed to the concerned staff as required.

Communication Etiquette

Parents are expected to:

• Maintain respectful and professional communication.
• Address concerns constructively.
• Follow the defined communication hierarchy.
• Avoid the use of inappropriate language or behaviour.

Restrictions

Parents must not:

• Approach teachers during dispersal time.
• Enter classrooms or academic areas without permission.
• Use personal contact numbers of teachers for communication.
• Create or engage in unofficial parent groups for school-related decisions.

Grievance Redressal

• Concerns must be addressed through the appropriate hierarchy: Class Teacher → Coordinator → School Administration.
• The school will ensure timely and fair resolution of concerns.

Parent Responsibilities

Parents are expected to:

• Stay informed through official communication.
• Check the almanac and the student portal regularly.
• Support school policies and decisions.
• Ensure timely response to school communication.
• Cooperate in matters related to discipline, attendance, grooming, and well-being.
• Collaborate with the school by ensuring their child attends after-school remedial classes, as these sessions are conducted in the best interest of the student’s academic progress and well-being.
• Encourage maximum participation of students in all school events and activities, as these contribute significantly to their overall development and confidence building.
• Pay all charges related to school requirements, such as field trips, costumes, newspapers, and other activities, as these are not included in the regular school fees. All payments must be sent promptly upon receipt of the school’s notification and strictly as per the instructions provided, in a sealed and properly labelled envelope.

School Responsibilities

The school will:

• Provide timely and accurate information.
• Maintain transparency in communication.
• Ensure accessibility through defined channels.
• Address concerns in a professional and structured manner.

Confidentiality

• All student-related information will be handled with confidentiality.
• Parents are expected to respect privacy and avoid sharing sensitive information publicly.

This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as required to ensure continued effectiveness.
