Awareness Talk: "Sugar Trap – Harmful Effects of Excessive Sugar Intake"

In response to the CBSE directive aimed at promoting health awareness among school children, National Public School, Hosur Road, organized an informative talk titled "Sugar Trap – Harmful Effects of Excessive Sugar Intake” by renowned paediatric endocrinologists Dr. Suma Uday and Dr. Pavithra Nagaraj of Narayana Health Hospital in the school on 6th June 2025 for students of Grades 1 to 12.

The interactive talk aimed to highlight the dangers of excessive sugar consumption, especially among children and adolescents. It included understanding hidden sugars in everyday foods and drinks, the link between high sugar intake and childhood obesity, early onset of type 2 diabetes due to poor dietary choices and some simple tips for making healthier food choices and reducing sugar consumption. The health educators emphasized the importance of balanced diets and regular physical activity.

This initiative marked an important step in fostering health awareness and preventive care among students, aligning with the CBSE’s vision of promoting holistic well-being in schools.
