To enhance the vocabulary of the students, “Word of the Day” was introduced during the week. Reading Pledge in the school assembly presumed, where they vowed to read and shine the light of knowledge.
‘Recognition and appreciation help in continuation of great efforts and better outcomes.’ This was recorded as a coincidence, where in the students had received accolades from an Online story Publishing platform called Bribooks the same week, and they were applauded for their bright beginnings in their writing journey.
Stories play an important role in imagination and creative thinking in children. A theatrical story session was organized for Grade 1, 2 & 3. The students were mesmerized with folk stories by an acclaimed performance storyteller Mrs. Ramya Srinidhi, Co-founder of Katha Corner. Voice modulation and prop usage caught the attention of students. Another unique session for the Primary students was hosted by the famous writer of children’s books, Ms. Asha Nehemiah. The session was particularly planned for Primary students to guide them over the basic story writing format, employing different content points. The students enjoyed the Reading challenge, In-house storytelling sessions, creation of classroom library, poster making competition and story writing workshop was conducted throughout the week across all the grades to imbibe the importance of National Reading Week. Overall, it was an inspirational week where the students were instilled with an enthusiasm to read, write, direct and lead.
